What changed in this cycle?
Use the 2026 notice’s post list and vacancy table rather than copying the 2025 cycle. The later May scheduling amendment superseded the affected 28 May date. SSC also listed an April medical-guidelines corrigendum; candidates proceeding to medical assessment should use the amended instructions, not an old coaching checklist.

Vacancies and posts
The detailed notice covers BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, SSF and Assam Rifles, with separate force, gender, state/UT and category distributions. The 25,487 figure is tentative. Do not add a previous-cycle NCB vacancy or reuse a 2025 final allocation as the 2026 vacancy table. Domicile and reservation conditions are material.
Eligibility
Candidates needed Class 10/matriculation from a recognised board by 1 January 2026 and an ordinary age of 18–23 on that date. SC/ST and OBC upper-age relaxations are five and three years under the notice; other groups have specific provisions. Nationality, domicile/category evidence and physical/medical requirements must also be satisfied. A certificate used for one purpose does not automatically prove every reservation claim.
Application process and fees
The GD 2026 application window is closed. The notification prescribed ₹100, with exemptions for women, SC/ST and eligible ex-servicemen. Use SSC’s candidate account for a stage that is actually available, rather than an old “apply now” link. Preserve your submitted form, registration and fee record.
Exam pattern
| Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Intelligence and Reasoning | 20 | 40 |
| General Knowledge and General Awareness | 20 | 40 |
| Elementary Mathematics | 20 | 40 |
| English / Hindi | 20 | 40 |
The paper has 80 objective questions carrying 160 marks in 60 minutes. A wrong answer deducts 0.25 mark. Questions are at matriculation level. The notification specifies English, Hindi and 13 regional languages for the CBE.
Syllabus
- Reasoning: analogies, similarities/differences, spatial visualisation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationships, arithmetic reasoning, classification, series, coding and decoding.
- General awareness: current events, India and neighbouring countries, sport, history, culture, geography, economy, polity, Constitution and scientific research.
- Mathematics: number systems, whole numbers, fractions/decimals, percentages, ratio/proportion, averages, interest, profit/loss, discount, mensuration, time/distance and time/work.
- English/Hindi: basic language understanding and comprehension.

Selection process
The recruitment includes CBE, PST/PET, document verification and medical examination under the notification. Physical tests and medical standards have category/region-specific provisions and exemptions. Qualifying a written stage does not establish appointment. Use the CAPF/SSC stage notice applicable to your roll number; a 2025 final result is not a 2026 physical-test call.
Salary and job profile
The 2026 notice specifies Pay Level 3, ₹21,700–69,100 for the posts it covers. ₹21,700 is starting basic pay, not net monthly income. Allowances, deductions and posting conditions affect pay received. See GD salary: basic pay versus take-home.
Preparation and previous papers
Complete timed 60-minute papers and track accuracy by subject. In a practice paper, score two marks per correct answer and deduct 0.25 per wrong answer; unanswered questions score zero. Pair revision with progressive fitness preparation suited to your circumstances. Old papers remain labelled with their original year.
