Latest official update
The June 2026 UGC NET cycle has reached results and certificate services. NTA’s 17 September notice declares the results for English, Commerce and Sociology examinations held on 9–10 September. The official portal also provides June 2026 e-certificate access. Candidates must match their subject and sitting rather than treating one result notice as covering every examination.

What matters in the current result?
A scorecard can establish different outcomes. JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD-only eligibility are not equivalent. Check the category actually awarded before applying to a university or claiming a fellowship. The September result notice specifically concerns three subjects and follows their re-examination; use the final key for that sitting.
Notification and important dates
The June 2026 bulletin supplies the academic and examination rules. The 17 September result notice confirms the later three-subject outcome.

Eligibility routes
Under the June bulletin, the usual Master’s route requires 55% for General/General-EWS candidates and 50% for the specified reserved categories. The four-year bachelor’s route requires 75%, with prescribed relaxation, and does not confer Assistant Professor eligibility. Provisional candidates must meet the completion conditions. Read the exact route applicable to your qualification rather than treating every graduate as eligible.
Age and application fees
The June bulletin sets JRF’s ordinary upper age at 30 on 1 June 2026, with defined relaxations. It specifies no upper age limit for Assistant Professor or PhD-only NET eligibility. Those reference dates belong to this cycle. Application fees were ₹1,150 General, ₹600 General-EWS/OBC-NCL and ₹325 for the listed SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/third-gender categories, excluding applicable processing charges. The June application is not open now.
Exam pattern
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Paper I | 50 questions; 100 marks |
| Paper II | 100 questions; 200 marks, based on the selected subject |
| Duration | 180 minutes jointly, without a break |
| Scoring | Two marks per correct response; no negative marking |
Syllabus and subject selection
Use UGC’s subject-wise syllabus with the subject code in your application. Paper I and the subject paper require separate preparation. A convenient study sheet has one row for each syllabus unit, a revision date, attempted questions and recurring mistakes. Use the official syllabus to check the coverage of any commercial course.
Preparation strategy
Start with a timed diagnostic set for both papers. Allocate more revision time to units where errors recur, while keeping regular Paper I practice. When reviewing a mock, distinguish an unfamiliar concept from an incorrect inference or missed qualifier. Reattempt weak units after a few days rather than simply rereading solutions.
For subject reading, make short topic notes that you can retrieve without looking at the book. Practise explaining a concept and comparing it with a closely related one. This is an editorial study method; it is not an official list of likely questions.
Results, cut-offs and certificates
Download the scorecard from the matching candidate service on NTA’s UGC NET portal. Compare the subject code and category with the published cut-off table. Minimum qualifying marks are not a promise of JRF or selection. Save a copy of the result and e-certificate for subsequent applications, and follow the institution’s document-verification process.
Fellowship, salary and admission
NET qualification does not itself place a candidate in employment. Assistant Professor recruitment and PhD admission have their own procedures. JRF funding depends on the award conditions and placement; a generic coaching salary figure cannot describe every outcome. Decide whether your next step is research admission, a teaching application or preparation for a further attempt.
Resources for your next step
Use the official final keys and syllabus alongside the available preparation resources. Keep past papers labelled by subject and examination session. A different subject’s paper can illustrate format but cannot replace subject-specific preparation.
