CBSE has scheduled the 22nd CTET for 12 and 13 December 2026. The 14 September notice supersedes the September date printed in the original bulletin. What changed in this cycle?

The original bulletin named 6 September. CBSE subsequently reopened applications from 25 August to 1 September and later announced the December dates. Existing successful applicants were told not to apply again. An old result labelled February 2026 belongs to the preceding edition, not this forthcoming examination.

Notification and important dates

Read the 22nd-edition information bulletin together with the revised examination-date notice. Keep both documents: the bulletin explains the papers, while the later notice supplies the revised dates.

Eligibility and paper choice

Choose the paper for the classes you intend to teach. Candidates seeking both levels must take both papers. The bulletin directs applicants to the applicable NCTE qualifications and recruitment rules. Admission to the test does not itself confirm eligibility for a particular teaching appointment. Match your teacher-training qualification, subject and school level before choosing a recruitment route.

Application and fees

The 22nd-edition form window is closed. The bulletin’s fee was ₹1,000 for one paper or ₹1,200 for both for General/OBC-NCL applicants; SC/ST/differently abled candidates paid ₹500 or ₹600 respectively, with applicable bank charges. These amounts describe this edition, not an unannounced 2027 application. Keep the confirmation page and payment record for candidate services.

Exam pattern

Paper structure
ItemDetails
Both papers150 multiple-choice questions, 150 marks, 2½ hours per paper; no negative marking
Paper IChild Development and Pedagogy, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Language I and Language II: 30 marks each
Paper IIChild Development and Pedagogy and two languages: 30 marks each; Mathematics and Science OR Social Studies/Social Science: 60 marks

Language II must differ from Language I. Use the subject combination recorded on your confirmation page when practising. The separate papers are not interchangeable.

Syllabus and preparation

For Paper I, combine primary-level subject knowledge with how children learn those subjects. For Paper II, revise the chosen upper-primary subject option alongside pedagogy and both languages. The bulletin includes detailed appendices; turn each topic into a revision checklist rather than preparing only from a short coaching summary.

A practical weekly plan is to alternate content revision, pedagogy questions and a timed mixed set. Keep an error log separating concept mistakes from reading mistakes. After a full paper, revisit the relevant syllabus item and solve a fresh question on it. These are study suggestions, not a prediction of the examination.

Qualification, certificate and employment

The bulletin describes 60% as the qualifying benchmark, with concessions considered under applicable reservation policies. CTET certificates have lifetime validity, and candidates may attempt the examination again to improve their score. Passing does not award a job, salary or automatic appointment. Employer recruitment, qualifications and selection remain separate.

Admit card and examination-day planning

Use the city information to plan travel, then check the admit card for the actual centre, reporting time and paper. A city slip is not the admit card. Recheck candidate details against your confirmation page and use CBSE’s helpdesk for a discrepancy. Do not book travel from the superseded September timetable.

Previous papers and useful resources

Use the question-paper and final-answer-key sections on the official CTET website for past editions. Label practice files by their actual year and paper. Browse GovtAdhikari’s resource library for available study material; a different state TET paper is supplementary practice, not an official CTET paper.
