What changed and notification PDF

The 21 September corrigendum extended registration and fee payment from 21 to 27 September. The 25 September vacancy revision supersedes earlier vacancy tables. Vacancies are indicative and may change; provisional allotment depends on vacancies actually reported by participating banks.

The original notification specifies 21 September 2026 for educational qualifications and experience. The registration extension states that other terms remain unchanged. Do not assume it moves every eligibility cut-off to 27 September; obtain IBPS clarification if your eligibility depends on this distinction.

Vacancies and posts

Read the 25 September Annexure I by bank, state, post and reservation category. Office Assistant, Officer Scale I, Scale II general/specialist and Scale III tables are separate. PwBD and ex-servicemen figures shown as “out of which” must not be added again to the main total.

A bank’s reported vacancy does not guarantee selection, a particular branch or a home-district posting. Use your cadre and applicable local-language requirement when comparing banks.

Eligibility: age, qualification and local language

Base age limits as on 1 September 2026
ItemDetails

Officer Scale IAbove 18 and below 30; 2 September 1996–1 September 2008 inclusive

Prescribed relaxations apply: SC/ST five years, OBC (non-creamy layer) three years and eligible persons with benchmark disabilities ten years, with separate clauses for other eligible groups. Check the notification’s category evidence and combined-relaxation rules.

Office Assistant and Scale I require a recognised bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent and the prescribed local-language proficiency. Computer knowledge is desirable. Neither entry-level cadre requires prior banking experience. The preferred disciplines listed for Scale I do not replace the basic degree requirement.

Scale II General Banking Officer requires a degree with at least 50% aggregate and two years as an officer in a bank or financial institution. Specialist roles have separate degree, professional and experience conditions. Scale III requires at least 50% in the degree and five years as an officer in a bank or financial institution. Do not apply Scale I rules to these cadres.

For local-language proficiency, the notification recognises study of the language at Class VIII or above in a government-recognised school/board or the specified certificate route. Selected candidates who do not yet satisfy the proficiency requirement may receive six months from joining to acquire it, subject to the notification and bank’s permitted extension within probation. Check the language listed for the bank.

Application process and fees

Fresh registration for XV is closed. Candidates could apply for Office Assistant and one officer cadre using separate applications and fees, but could not apply to multiple officer cadres. Retain the submitted form and payment record; use only links reached through the official IBPS RRB XV page.

Notification application fees, inclusive of GST
ItemDetails
Officer cadres: SC/ST/PwBD₹175
Officer cadres: other candidates₹850
Office Assistant: SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/DESM₹175
Office Assistant: other candidates₹850

Bank transaction charges are additional. Eligibility relaxations and fee concessions are distinct: a category’s age concession does not automatically establish a fee concession. Do not submit payment to an intermediary promising selection.

Exam pattern and marking

Preliminary examination: OA and Officer Scale I
TestQuestionsMarksTime
Reasoning404025 minutes
OA: Numerical Ability / Scale I: Quantitative Aptitude404020 minutes
Total808045 minutes

Both preliminary tests must meet the prescribed cut-offs. Prelims are a screening stage; their marks do not form the final merit score.

Main examination: OA and Officer Scale I
TestQuestionsMarksTime
Reasoning405030 minutes
Computer Knowledge402015 minutes
General Awareness404015 minutes
English Language OR Hindi Language404030 minutes
OA: Numerical Ability / Scale I: Quantitative Aptitude405030 minutes
Total200200120 minutes

The wrong-answer penalty is one-quarter of the marks assigned to that question, not necessarily 0.25 marks in every section. Unanswered questions carry no penalty. Observe the separate test timings; the main examination’s 120 minutes is not freely interchangeable across tests. Scale II/III have separate single-examination structures.

Syllabus and preparation topics

The official notice identifies the tests in the pattern above. The following study checklist is editorial preparation guidance, not a claimed official chapter-by-chapter syllabus or guaranteed question distribution.

Preparation checklist
ItemDetails
ReasoningPuzzles, seating, syllogism, inequalities, coding, directions, relationships and series
Numerical/QuantitativeArithmetic, percentages, ratios, interest, time/work, speed/distance, simplification and data interpretation
General AwarenessCurrent affairs with banking/economy context, financial institutions and rural banking developments
Computer KnowledgeHardware/software basics, operating systems, office tools, networks, internet and security
English/HindiComprehension, grammar, vocabulary and usage in the selected language

Study one main-exam topic alongside daily preliminary practice. After each timed test, separate conceptual errors from calculation errors and time-management failures. The official notification and your actual test language/section timings take precedence over coaching mock formats.

Selection process, result and cut-off

Office Assistant final merit uses the main examination; there is no interview for this cadre. Scale I uses the main examination followed by interview, with an 80:20 main/interview weight. The interview carries 100 marks and the stated qualifying minimum is 40%, or 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates. Meeting a qualifying minimum is not the same as securing allotment.

Cut-offs vary with cadre, stage, state/category and vacancies. A previous-cycle cut-off is a historical benchmark, not the XV threshold. A reserve-list release for CRP RRBs XIV must not be labelled an XV result. Appointment remains subject to the participating bank’s eligibility, documents and service requirements.

Official reference: Interview and provisional-allotment provisions.

Salary and service conditions

Use the participating bank’s appointment and service terms for pay, allowances, probation and posting. This guide does not promise a fixed take-home salary or a home-state branch. Allowances and deductions make net pay different from a basic-pay figure.

Preparation resources and previous papers

RRB exam pattern and RRB syllabus support the current session. Match Office Assistant or the exact officer scale before selecting past papers. Retain the paper’s actual year and compare its subjects and timings with XV. Previous cut-offs are benchmarks, not an announced current qualifying score.
