Indian Coast Guard Previous Papers: Sources and Practice Guide

Find official CGEPT resources, distinguish past papers from model questions, and plan effective practice for the applicable exam scheme.

At a glance

Looking for Indian Coast Guard previous-year papers? This page explains how to identify a genuine paper, use practice material and check it against the applicable CGEPT examination scheme. It does not currently offer an authenticated previous-year question-paper PDF.

Official resources for CGEPT preparation

The Indian Coast Guard recruitment website links to its enrolled-personnel recruitment portal. The portal provides the CGEPT 01/2027 and 02/2027 advertisement (PDF). Read the examination scheme in paragraph 6.1.3 before selecting a practice test.

For these batches, that paragraph describes a one-hour computer-based examination with 100 objective questions, one mark each, in Hindi and English, with no negative marking. These details belong to the named batches; an older practice paper may use a different structure.

Previous papers, memory-based questions and model papers

  • Official previous-year paper: a paper released by the examination authority and identifiable by its examination and date.
  • Memory-based paper: questions reconstructed by candidates or publishers. Wording and answer keys may be incomplete or inaccurate.
  • Model paper: a practice set created to resemble an examination. It is not evidence of what appeared in a past exam.

Check a PDF before practising

  1. Identify the publisher, recruitment batch, post and examination stage.
  2. Look for a date, shift and source reference rather than relying on the filename.
  3. Compare the subjects and timing with the official scheme for your batch.
  4. Check whether the solutions are explained and whether a corrected answer key exists.
  5. Use older material for relevant topic practice, not as proof of current rules or likely questions.

How to use practice questions effectively

First solve a small set without a timer to identify concepts you need to revisit. Then attempt a timed set matched to the relevant scheme. Keep a record of attempted questions, correct answers and time spent. After checking the answers, solve incorrect questions again without reading the solution.

Separate calculation mistakes from topics you do not understand. Use the next session to address those gaps, then revisit the questions a few days later. A score on one practice set is not a reliable forecast of selection.

Build a simple practice record

  • Resource: title, publisher and whether it is official, memory-based or a model set.
  • Coverage: topics attempted and any differences from your batch’s syllabus.
  • Performance: time, correct answers and unanswered questions.
  • Next action: one or two topics to revise before the next attempt.

Common questions

Can I download an official previous-year paper here?

No authenticated previous-year paper is currently supplied on this page. The linked advertisement is a recruitment notice, not a question paper.

Can an old paper still help?

Yes, for topics that overlap with your current syllabus. Do not copy its timing, marks or selection rules without checking the applicable notice.

Should I pay for a paper labelled “official”?

Ask for its original source and a sample before purchasing. A publisher’s label alone does not establish authenticity.
