Which course route fits your interest?
| Course family | What to investigate | Decision to make |
|---|---|---|
| Five-year integrated law degree | Law combined with an undergraduate discipline after school | Check the institution’s entrance route and degree recognition. |
| Three-year LLB | Law study after an eligible undergraduate degree | This is a different entry route with its own application and eligibility. |
| BA / policy-related study | Politics, governance or policy analysis depending on programme | A non-law degree is not interchangeable with an LLB. |
Course names are a starting point. Read the awarding university’s current programme regulations for duration, exits, entry subjects and the final qualification. Similar names do not guarantee identical curricula.
How admission works
CLAT UG is the admission route for participating institutions’ undergraduate law programmes, including NLSIU’s five-year BA LLB (Hons.). It is not a universal law admission test. NLSIU’s three-year LLB has a separate route; use the exact programme page.
CLAT UG guide and admission steps
Try the subject before choosing it
Read a short public judgment or policy brief and summarise the question, reasoning and competing positions. Notice whether you enjoy close reading and constructing an argument, not only speaking in a debate.
Questions that make a useful shortlist
- Does this exact degree fit my intended professional route?
- How are legal writing, case analysis, mooting and clinical work assessed?
- What internship arrangements and costs are actually included?
- Does an advertised placement statistic refer to this degree and graduating cohort?
Compare the total cost
Compare the full programme cost, accommodation, books, internship travel and refundable deposits. Review the institution’s financial-aid eligibility and deadlines separately from admission.
Study and career fit
Litigation, corporate practice, public service and policy research have different entry conditions. The college’s career support is one input; do not treat a degree or internship as a guaranteed job.
Build your next step
- Inspect a researched college profile and follow its programme and admission sources.
- Browse the current college collection; the initial collection is selective, not an all-India ranking.
- Use the detailed college-selection checklist to record the same evidence for each option.
- Return to the course index if another subject fits better.
