SSC MTS Eligibility: Age and Qualification Reference

SSC MTS and Havaldar eligibility reference: verified 2025 age groups, Matriculation cut-off, relaxations and limits for future-cycle planning.

At a glance

Source review: 6 October 2026. These rules are verified for the 2025 recruitment cycle. The SSC MTS notice-board category reviewed on this date showed 2025-cycle updates; a replacement 2026 or 2027 recruitment notification was not verified. An examination taking place in 2026 does not automatically become the 2026 recruitment cycle.

SSC MTS eligibility: the verified 2025 notification required Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board by 1 August 2025. Age was also assessed on 1 August 2025. These historical cut-offs must not be used to decide eligibility for an unverified future cycle.

Qualification and evidence

Candidates had to have passed Matriculation or equivalent by the specified cut-off. Merely expecting a result was insufficient. The appointing authority checks original educational documents and other eligibility evidence during verification. A provisionally issued admission certificate is not a final eligibility decision.

Central Government civilian employees, specified disabled Defence personnel and certain other categories have separate conditions in paragraph 6.2. Do not apply a relaxation without meeting the relevant category and service requirements.

Havaldar physical requirements

Havaldar required PET/PST in addition to the computer-based examination; MTS did not use the same physical-test stage. The ordinary walking standards were 1,600 metres in 15 minutes for men and 1 kilometre in 20 minutes for women. Category-specific physical relaxations and permissible disability exemptions are set out in paragraphs 14.7.3–14.7.5.

Frequently asked questions

Is Class 12 compulsory under the reviewed notice?

The 2025 minimum was Matriculation or equivalent, not Class 12.

Can I use these birth dates for a 2026 application?

No. They belong to 2025. Future eligibility needs the next official notice.

Does every MTS applicant take a physical test?

The PET/PST stage in this notice was for Havaldar, not ordinary MTS posts.

Using this guide for 2026–2027 preparation

Use these confirmed earlier-cycle rules as a preparation reference only. Do not advance the age cut-off, qualification date or application deadline by one year. Check the next official recruitment notice for any changes before deciding eligibility or applying.

Open SSC’s notice board and select MTS. Calendar entries are planning information, not a substitute for the recruitment notification.
