SSC CHSL syllabus 2026 covers English, reasoning, quantitative aptitude and general awareness in Tier I. Tier II adds Computer Knowledge alongside its subject tests, then the applicable skill/typing test. This guide groups SSC’s indicative topics into a revision checklist; the notification is the complete official reference.

Tier I General Awareness syllabus
Prepare current events and everyday scientific awareness, plus India and neighbouring countries: history, culture, geography, the economic scene, general policy and scientific research. The syllabus does not prescribe exactly the “last six months” or “last twelve months” of current affairs. Such a study window is a preparation choice, not an official rule.
Tier II subject-wise syllabus
Mathematical Abilities
Revise number systems, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration and trigonometry. Tier II also explicitly includes mean, median, mode, standard deviation and simple probability alongside tables and graphs.
Reasoning and General Intelligence
Cover verbal/non-verbal analogies, classification, series, spatial and figure questions, coding, operations, inference, critical thinking and problem solving.
English Language and Comprehension
Revise vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and usage, error correction, voice, narration, ordering, cloze and comprehension. The notice specifies two or more comprehension paragraphs, including a simple book/story passage and another based on current-affairs editorial/report material.
General Awareness
Coverage includes current events, everyday science, history, culture, geography, economics, general policy and scientific research concerning India and neighbouring countries.
Tier II Computer Knowledge syllabus
- Basics: CPU, input/output devices, memory, backup devices, ports, Windows Explorer and keyboard shortcuts.
- Software: Windows and basics of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Internet/email: browsing, searching, downloading, uploading, email account management and e-banking.
- Networking/cybersecurity: devices, protocols, threats including viruses, worms and Trojans, and preventive measures.
The section is mandatory but qualifying. Practise basic tasks and use questions to check concepts.
Skill practice and accessibility provisions
LDC/JSA typing requires English at 35 words per minute or Hindi at 30; Hindi uses Mangal font. DEO skill requirements differ by post group: 15,000 or 8,000 key depressions per hour. See the exam-pattern guide for durations and conditions.
For VH candidates with 40% or above visual disability, the notice excludes maps, graphs, diagrams and statistical data from specified Tier I reasoning/quantitative parts and Tier II mathematical/reasoning modules. Scribe and compensatory-time benefits have separate eligibility and documentation requirements.
A practical revision sequence
Editorial advice, not an SSC requirement:
- Mark strong, weak and unstudied topics against the official list.
- Repair arithmetic, grammar and reasoning foundations.
- Practise 15-minute Tier I subject blocks and review errors.
- Add Tier II statistics, probability, reading and computer basics early.
- Practise typing/DEO skills regularly, focusing on accuracy before speed.
- Use previous papers without treating old timings as current rules.
SSC does not promise fixed chapter-wise question weightage. Coaching weightage estimates remain estimates.
