The age reference date is 1 August 2026; qualifications and required experience must be held by the application closing date, 22 September 2026. JE Telecom qualification
The Department of Telecommunication post requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical Communications, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology or Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute. Its upper-age group is 30.
IMD Scientific Assistant: amended qualification
The 10 September addendum gives two IMD Scientific Assistant routes: (1) a bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics as a subject; or (2) a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Electronics, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics Telecommunication Engineering, Instrumentation, Information Technology, Telecommunication Engineering or Communication Engineering, from a recognized institution/university.
Route 2 also requires Class XII with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized Board. Do not omit that condition or treat an arbitrary diploma as an IMD qualification. The addendum keeps the upper-age limit at 30 years.
Experience, appearing candidates and recognition
Required experience must be acquired after completing the requisite qualification. Internship, training or research undertaken during the course does not count as the required experience. Candidates must be able to prove that the qualifying result was declared and they passed by the cut-off; a result merely being processed is insufficient.
Open/distance engineering and equivalent qualifications have specific recognition conditions. Read paragraphs 2.2–2.3 and the post row rather than assuming all online qualifications are accepted.
Age relaxation and other standards
The notice lists SC/ST relaxation of 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD (UR/EWS) 10 years, PwBD OBC 13 years and PwBD SC/ST 15 years. ESM and specified disabled Defence personnel have separate service-based rules. Category claims, post suitability and documentation conditions remain applicable.
BRO has specific physical/medical requirements and post restrictions. The notice also gives post-suitability provisions for persons with disabilities. Check these before expressing preferences; passing a computer-based paper does not establish eligibility for every department.
Nationality and BRO restriction
Paragraph 6 covers Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan and the specified persons of Indian origin migrating from its listed countries to settle permanently in India. The latter categories need a Government of India eligibility certificate before appointment. Paragraph 5.3 restricts BRO JE posts to male candidates; this restriction must not be applied to every JE post.
