Programme and admission decisions
The five-year law programme describes legal and social-science study, case analysis and practical learning. Compare the programme structure with your intended route into legal work. Use the CLAT guide for the current undergraduate application cycle, then the university page for institution-specific details.
CLAT UG guide and admission steps explains the examination route. Do not use an old reporting notice as a new application deadline.
Fees and living costs
The official five-year law programme page publishes an annual 2026–27 total of ₹4,51,000: ₹3,18,200 tuition/facilities and ₹1,32,800 housing, including its meal plan. It separately lists a one-time ₹13,900 admission fee and refundable security of ₹18,800 for SC/ST students or ₹23,700 for others. These are published 2026–27 amounts, not a confirmed 2027–28 quotation.
Budget for personal expenses and travel separately. Read the university financial-aid information before assuming a reduction: an admission offer and an aid award are different decisions.
A single headline fee can hide differences between programmes, categories and academic years. Obtain the current official fee schedule for your exact course. Record tuition, mandatory charges, deposits, hostel and mess separately; do not compare an annual fee with another college’s full-course total.
Questions to resolve before a seat decision
- Am I applying for the five-year law programme or a different NLSIU degree?
- What academic and accommodation fees apply to my category and session?
- Which financial-aid options have a separate application and evidence requirement?
Teaching, campus and outcomes
Read the programme syllabus and ask to see the relevant facilities and timetable. For outcomes, request a dated report with the programme, cohort size and number of students placed or progressing to further study. This profile does not assign a rating or treat an advertised highest salary as a typical student outcome.
Which NLSIU degree are you applying for?
The five-year BA LLB uses CLAT; a three-year LLB after graduation and the separate BA programme have their own entry routes. For the five-year route, the current CLAT 2027 guide covers the application due on 31 October 2026 and examination scheduled for 6 December 2026. Do not select CLAT PG when applying after Class 12.
