What to check in the 2026 rules
The current notice includes 15-minute Tier I subject timers, Tier II Paper III for shortlisted audit/accounts candidates, regional-language requirements for State Cadre audit/accounts posts, and a specific degree-subject list for Statistical Investigator Grade II. These points should be checked against the actual 2026 notice instead of assuming an older preparation guide still applies.
Notification PDF and later amendments
Download the official CGL 2026 notification (132-page PDF). Its original Tier I period was August–September. Use the later 12 September schedule for the 30 September–30 October window. The 21 September city/admission-certificate notice provides candidate-login and scribe instructions.
Vacancies and posts
The initial notification mentioned approximately 12,256 vacancies. The later 24 September statement totals 10,731 and explicitly warns that final vacancies may vary. Use the post/category rows in that statement; do not present either figure as final or invent a State-wise allocation.
The listed post groups include audit/accounts officers, assistants/ASOs, inspectors, statistical posts, auditors/accountants, tax assistants, Postal/Sorting Assistants and specified clerical posts. Availability, qualification and pay depend on the exact post and department.
Eligibility and age
The four unrelaxed age ranges are 18–27, 20–30, 18–30 and 18–32, assigned by post and assessed on 1 August 2026. Qualifications must also be possessed by that date. JSO, Statistical Investigator and State Cadre audit/accounts posts have requirements beyond a generic graduation statement.
Read the eligibility guide for birth-date ranges, relaxation conditions and specific qualifications. Physical/medical standards and nationality rules also matter before choosing preferences.
Application, fee and corrections
The notice set applications for 21 May–22 June 2026, closing at 23:00, and online fee payment through 23 June at 23:00. The fee was ₹100 with specified exemptions. The correction window ran 29 June–1 July, closing at 23:00. These are past windows, not a live application invitation.
See the application guide for exemptions, correction charges and records to retain. Use SSC for any account or application-status query.

City details and admission certificates
The 21 September notice directs candidates to SSC’s designated login for city details and says certificates will tentatively be available two/three days before the respective examination date. The own-scribe mapping deadline stated there was 24 September 2026 at 23:00 and has passed. Read the official notice for fresh-registration and entry-pass conditions; do not treat the expired mapping date as still open.
Results, answer keys and historical papers
Check SSC’s current notice board and candidate login for answer keys, objections and results. The documents cited here do not establish a 2026 result date or cut-off. Earlier-cycle results and previous-year papers must retain their original recruitment/paper year. A past paper is preparation material, not proof of the current timing or selection rules.
